It’s no secret that our team at Dialpad is obsessed with design. When we originally set out to create Dialpad, we wanted to truly change the way office phones work—making them more compatible with our mobile workstyles, and better integrated with the other cloud-based business tools we use everyday.
Today, we’re proud to announce that a new design is available for the Dialpad Chrome app. This new design represents the manifestation of our continued commitment to creating the best unified communications experience available in the market today, and lays a more flexible foundation for what we have planned for the future.
Boring, clunky office phones are a few decades overdue for a refresh, and with today’s workers being busier and more mobile than ever, they need a communications solution that allows them the same freedom that smartphones, laptops, and the internet have all provided in other aspects of their lives.
Why Did We Make This Change?
For our new design, we really wanted to focus on making our desktop experience better, while at the same time establishing a better framework to support our future plans to make users’ communications experience truly unified.
Over the last few months, we’ve been closely engaging with our customers to understand how they’re using Dialpad, and how we can make that experience more productive. While the initial design was meant to enable multi-tasking, we learned that it wasn’t as easy to use as we anticipated.
Based on the feedback we gathered from our users, the new design combines everything into a single window to make it easier to navigate and prevent losing track of contact and conversation lists. The single window also makes it easier to display longer conversations and important contextual information that you share with your contact such as, recent Gmail messages, Calendar events, Drive files, and even LinkedIn profiles.

How Do I Get It?
The app will auto-update to the last version over the course of this week as we roll it out. If you’d like to get it immediately, simply quit and restart the Dialpad app for the latest version.
Lastly, to all of our customers, thank you for your feedback. It’s served as a key part of our design process and we couldn’t have done this without all of you.
